The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences offers block elective opportunities to McMaster medical students. All McMaster electives must be booked centrally through our electives coordinator. Please do not contact supervisors directly to book these placements.

It is important to note that the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences does not currently participate in a lottery process for McMaster students, except for the psychiatry summer boot camp. Therefore, requests will be triaged on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Next, book your request through MedSIS advising your areas of preference in the comment section.

Our coordinator will liaise with our supervisors and contact you once a placement is secured and confirmed. Please note, we may have to divide your time between preceptors depending on both popularity and unforeseen scheduling conflicts. At high volume request times, we may cap the total number of requests accepted, so please apply early to avoid disappointment.
