Welcome
Our Wellness Initiative was formally implemented in response to the lockdown necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, when it was recognized that the isolation and lack of connectedness was impacting our learners, faculty and staff in significant ways. Initial goals focused on providing peer support, creating a curated repository of helpful wellness resources for members and surveying our members to understand factors contributing to wellness challenges. We recognize that high levels of burnout and emotional exhaustion have been recognized in health-care professionals prior to the current situation and further compounded by the profound impact on mental health of the pandemic. Future work of the initiative will focus on developing a framework to promote well-being in our department members.
