Dr. DeBono received his doctoral degree in Clinical-Developmental Psychology from York University after completing his pre-doctoral internship at the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. DeBono also received his MBA from Cornell University and Queen's University, graduating with disctinction amongst the top 10% of his cohort. Dr. DeBono is an Assistant Professor (Part-Time) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University and a clinical psychologist at the RBC Child and Youth Mental Health Unit at McMaster Children’s Hospital. He provides assessment and intervention services to children, adolescents, and their families, and provides consultation to an interdisciplinary clinical team. In addition, he provides supervision of graduate-level psychology students, medical clerks, and psychiatry residents. Dr. DeBono’s clinical interests consist of the assessment and treatment of emotion dysregulation, chronic suicidality, and emerging Borderline Personality Disorder. He is a Co-Investigator on an HHS HPI grant examining usage patterns of mental health services in youth across the spectrum of care (i.e. ER, inpatient, outpatient, outreach, etc.). Dr. DeBono has served as the HHS Psychology Practice Chair, the HHS Clinical Ethics Committee Co-Chair, and on a number of other committees, leveraging his thought leadership.
