Dr. Joseph Pellizzari received his PhD in clinical psychology in 2000 from the University of Western Ontario. Following a career at the London Health Sciences Centre, he moved to Hamilton in 2008 and began working at St. Joseph’s Healthcare. He works in the Mental Health & Addiction Program, specifically the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service (CL). He is currently the Service Leader for CL. His clinical practice involves the assessment and treatment of patients with complex medical and psychiatric presentations. He has developed clinical partnerships with a variety of medical services. Dr. Pellizzari is also active in education; teaching aspects of psychosomatic medicine to undergraduate medical students, supervising psychology and psychiatry residents, and participating in various educational initiatives with other medical specialties. Current areas of interest include palliative care, ICU survivorship, pulmonary rehabilitation, and chronic pain.
