Irene Patelis-Siotis


Dr. Siotis is an Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neuroscience and undergraduate M.D. Program. She is Unit IV Clinical Skills Coordinator and has been extensively involved in all levels of medical training as well as with the Clinical Behavioural Sciences Program (CBS) and was the recipient of the 1995 Jock Cleghorn Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award, McMaster Psychiatric Residents Association.

Clinical and Research Interests

As a senior staff psychiatrist in the Mood Disorders Program, St. Joseph's Healthcare, Dr. Siotis has developed a Regional Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Program which provides individual and group CBT for both Unipolar and Bipolar Disorder. She has also developed the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program for patients with treatment resistant mood disorders. Her research activities are closely linked to her clinical work and she is currently the co-investigator on a multi-centre (4 sites) project funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Psychoeducation versus Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy in Bipolar Disorder.
