Dr. DeBono received his doctoral degree in Clinical-Developmental Psychology from York University after completing his pre-doctoral internship at the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. DeBono is an Assistant Professor (Part-Time) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University and a clinical psychologist at the RBC Child and Youth Mental Health Unit at McMaster Children’s Hospital. He provides assessment and intervention services to children, adolescents, and their families, and provides consultation to an interdisciplinary clinical team. In addition, he provides supervision of graduate-level psychology students, medical clerks, and psychiatry residents. Dr. DeBono’s clinical interests consist of the assessment and treatment of emotion dysregulation, suicidality, and complex mental health presentations. He has a research interest in understanding usage patterns of mental health services. Dr. DeBono is a member of the HHS Clinical Ethics Committee, the HHS Workplace Violence Prevention Committee, the HHS Psychotherapy Regulation Committee, the McMaster University, Researcher-Clinician Training Stream-Executive Committee in the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour, and the HHS Child Clinical Psychology Residency Committee. He is also the HHS Psychology Practicum Coordinator and Chair of the Psychology Practice Council. Dr. DeBono will begin the Cornell-Queen’s EMBA Americas Program in Summer 2017.
